Are You Busy Doing The Right Things?

Are You Busy Doing The Right Things?

Many of us are usually very busy throughout the day. We miss time for a lot of other activities and our only explanation is that we are busy. As humans, I believe we enjoy it when we are busy. When our energy is always fully expended.

But sometimes, being busy is not a bad thing, it is what we are busy doing that is the issue. At the end of the day, take some few moments to analyze what you were busy doing during the day.

Ask yourself questions like is this the best use of my energy and time. It is very important that we watch what we spend our time doing because sometimes we simply are doing the very urgent but very unimportant tasks.

Take a few moments not even thinking about what you did yesterday but what you are currently doing. Is this the best way to execute this task, can you find someone else who can execute these tasks, how much better can you improve doing these tasks?

These questions are very important because it is not only about being busy, it is that we are busy doing the right thing. If you do not ask yourself these questions, I am afraid you might get to a certain stage in life when you find yourself in a rot, in a field where you feel you are busy, but essentially just expending energy.

Make sure you understand the difference between simply burning energy and expending energy on the right tasks. Many people give the excuse “I am busy”, but how many really do great things when they claim to be busy.

We all have different tasks in our different areas in life and as such we can not all be doing the same thing, but always seek to find what the important and not urgent tasks are because these are usually the most important tasks in the end.

Focus on what is important, not only on what is urgent. We apply the firefighter approach all day and claim to be busy when you could apply a better approach that would give up ample time to do much greater and better tasks.

It is always difficult to figure out whether you are doing important or unimportant tasks, but take a few minutes to analyze the tasks you want to complete for the day and see which would have the greatest important 5 years from today. Or which simply just has not value 5 hours from now.

It is important that we watch the activities we engage in because our engagement time is limited and we always want to maximize the best use of our engagement time.

Do not wait to start tomorrow. Start today. Look at your activities in terms of their importance and not only based on their urgency. The world needs your engagement time for greater tasks and activities.

Take care and God bless.
